Pixelfed
The photo sharing project of the fediverse
Yesterday I created an account in pixelfed.social, one of the many instances of Pixelfed, the distributed image sharing open source project which federates with Mastodon and others. Anyone can set up its own instance and have it ’talk’ to all the others. So, I created an account and started sharing some of my shots. For the most part, it works very well and I’m eternally grateful that something like this exists, free from the claws of big corporations hungry for your data.
Bye Bye Twitter (Almost)
Quick note on why I removed my Twitter account
It’s been a while since I started trying to decouple myself from big tech companies that sell my data to third parties, give them away freely to governments, or feed them to huge, unsupervised AI systems to target me better with ads – what is commonly known as degoogling. Today I’m taking another step in this process by deleting my personal Twitter account. twitter.com/jumpinglangur is no more!
